Middle Phase

Middle phase students working at step 5 and above (Sycamore and Pine classes)

  • Students will need a home school pack of supportive resources and access codes – these will be delivered by class teams

 

A typical day is set out below:

9.00– 9.15  

Start the day by: 

  • Assembly and good morning chat on TEAMS – all students with adult present
  • Choose

9.30-10.30  

Maths

  • Respond to feedback and Maths session – work on TEAMS with teaching input on TEAMS
  • Choose

Break

Have a drink, snack and some free time

11.00-12.00   

English

  • Respond to feedback and English session – work on TEAMS with teaching input on TEAMS
  • Choose

Lunchtime

1.00 – 1.45  

  • Guided reading / phonics or spelling groups  – work on TEAMS with input on TEAMS

 

1.45-2.00

Movement break and sensory activity

2.00 – 2.45  

THEME / PE/ Employability

  • Respond to feedback and Theme / employability work on TEAMS with teaching input on TEAMS as organised

 

2.45 – 3.00

 

  • Story and end the day – TEAMS

 

 

An example timetable for the week is below: 

 

Ash class January 2021 (Middle phase students working below step 4 and non-verbal students)

  • Students will need their PECS books at home together with their independent work for each day – this will be delivered by academy staff and replenished every 2 weeks
  • Teachers will need a selection of story books for reading and discussion and a story selection board

9.30-9.45  

Start the day by: 

  • PECS Morning welcome. ‘How do you feel today?’ and day of the week activity on TEAMS

 

 

  • Independent work – Maths, English and fine motor skills tasks
