By studying history at Purple Oaks Academy, students will gain an understanding of British and world history, an appreciation of the people who shaped important events and an understanding of how to interpret and critically assess evidence to gain a deeper connection with the past.

In pathways 1 and 2, students engage with personal, local and national British history, with a focus on prominent historical figures and major events, interpreting these through engaging with evidence.

In pathways 3 and 4, students build on this knowledge, constructing chronologies, engaging with significant time periods such as Ancient Egypt and the Victorian Era, through detailed primary and secondary source analysis. Students in Key Stage 4 have the opportunity to produce a portfolio of evidence which forms part of the Entry Pathways in Humanities from EDUQAS.
