Computing

Computing and Internet Safety

Pathway 1 and 2

In pathways 1 and 2, students study computing within the themes that change each half-term. Students focus on developing computational thinking and an understanding of everyday computing systems and technology. These activities help students to develop problem-solving skills suited to everyday life and its challenges, allowing them to use technology to access their world safely. Computational thinking can be split into concepts and approaches.

Pathways 3 and 4

In pathways 3 and 4, students study computing through discrete subjects linked to the National Curriculum. This includes looking at computer systems, media creation and programming. At Key Stage 4, students can study for the qualification in Digital functional skills with Pearson Edexcel.

Internet Safety

Internet safety is a vital part of computing education and students will be taught how to keep themselves safe online, including where to obtain help if they do not feel safe.
